The “Getting Started at Mizzou: New Postdoc Checklist” from the Office of Postdoctoral Education provides a checklist of important things to do: Upon Arrival; for International Scholars; Within First Three Months; and Within the First Year of your appointment at the University of Missouri.
First three months:
Within first year:
Various orientation events are held throughout the year in divisions/colleges across campus. In addition, there are some campus events to help welcome new postdoctoral fellows to campus. Postdoctoral fellows can attend New Faculty Orientation in August, Postdoctoral Appreciation Week events in September, and meet-n-greets throughout the year.
New postdoctoral fellows are invited to attend the “New Faculty Orientation” scheduled for Thursday, August 9, 2018. Some information presented at this orientation may be of interest to postdoctoral fellows. The day will include brief overviews from many campus offices as well as a 30-minute session led by Deans and Department Chairs. Sessions on teaching will be offered in the afternoon. Check-in/registration begins at 8:30am. in the lobby of the Bond Life Sciences Center. For more information about the New Faculty Orientation, please contact Kelly Holtkamp, HoltkampK@missouri.edu. The Office of Postdoctoral Education and the MU Postdoctoral Association (MUPA) will be hosting a series of events during Postdoctoral Appreciation Week, September 17-21, 2018. New and returning postdoctoral fellows will have the opportunity to meet MUPA and campus leaders as well as attend professional development and social events. More information will be coming soon.
Coffee Chats: Throughout the year, the Office of Postdoctoral Education and MU Postdoctoral Association will announce meet-n-greets (with free coffee!) focusing on various topics to assist postdoctoral fellows on our campus.
You should also check with your department or PI to see if there is an orientation session you should attend in your College/Division for your discipline.
