Candidacy for a doctoral degree is established by passing the comprehensive examination. Candidacy is maintained by enrolling in 9090 Research (or 9990 Research for some engineering students) for two semester hours each fall and spring semester and for one semester hour each summer session up to and including the term in which the dissertation is defended. Failure to enroll continuously in 9090 Research until the doctoral degree is awarded terminates candidacy.
To maintain continuous enrollment, students must register for the required coursework each semester using myZou. Students who have enrollment difficulties should contact the Graduate School's doctoral academic adviser for registration assistance.
Doctoral candidates are currently assessed Missouri resident tuition rates for two hours of enrollment Fall and Spring semesters and one hour for Summer terms, regardless of the student's state or country of official residence. Note: tuition rates are subject to change at any time.
