Storytelling Training - Spring
March 23, 2017
S304 Memorial Union
Dr. Milbre Burch will conduct storytelling seminars in conjunction with the Mizzou 3MT Contest.
What is Storytelling?
From ancient times, storytelling has been a primary means of sharing and preserving cultural history across generations.
Storytellers' narratives served many purposes: transmit knowledge, preserve traditions, inculcate morals and values, or simply, to entertain. Through the use of compelling words, gestures, movement and visual images, storytellers evoke emotion and inspire action.
Storytelling can improve your presentation skills
It is incumbent upon grad students and postdocs to share research findings with both scholarly and lay audiences. Storytelling techniques will help you develop a speaking style that will ensure that you capture - and hold - your audience's attention. Further, you increase the likelihood that the audience with remember your key points because you successfully engaged them in a remarkable learning journey.
