Preparation

Integral to our mission and values the Office of Graduate Studies works to ensure a positive student experience in a safe and diverse graduate community that promotes excellence in graduate education, and empowers all students to meet the challenges of a global future.

Toward a more inclusive graduate community, our office offers diversity initiatives, a preview program (interactive campus visits) and graduate preparation programs. Generally, the preview and preparation programs are aimed at students from underserved, low income and/or underrepresented minority backgrounds.

Our programs will help you learn about our application and acceptance processes and sources of financial support. Importantly, we will connect you with engaged graduate students and faculty in graduate programs that interest you. If you are interested in networking with select graduate student groups, we can arrange that, too.

Through our preparation and preview programs, you will learn about research, teaching and outreach opportunities as well professional development programs on campus. We'll even give you time to explore social life at the University and downtown Columbia.
