May Commencement Celebration

During the commencement weekend, the Office of Graduate Studies will confer 949 master’s degrees, 22 education specialist degrees and 321 doctoral degrees at two different ceremonies.

The Master's and Ed Specialist Commencement will take place on noon on Saturday May 14 at Noon in the Mizzou Arena. Leading the procession will be Master’s Marshal Maxwell Little, Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. The Master of Ceremony will be Assistant Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Education Tracy Kitchel. Vocalist will be Ernest Harrison.

The Doctoral Hooding Ceremony will take place at 4 PM on Sunday May 15 in Jesse Hall Auditorium. Leading the procession will be Doctoral Marshal Pamela Ostby, Nursing, who will be hooded by her faculty advisor, Dr. Jane Armer.  Presiding over the ceremony will be Associate Vice Chancellor for Graduate Studies Leona Rubin. Vocalist will be Darneisha Coleman.

Among the platform party dignitaries at of both ceremonies will be Provost Garnett Stokes; Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Catherine Scroggs; University of Missouri System Curator Pamela Henrickson; and President of the Graduate Faculty Senate Tony Lupo. Deans, Directors and select faculty members also serve on the platform party.

Distance students who earn their degrees online may attend one of the campus ceremonies. Alternatively, online students are also recognized on a special site that features an interactive guest book and video remarks.
